This project documents the KANAA funeral ritual of the Mbouda people in Cameroon, highlighting its spiritual significance through fire dancing, manipulation, and purification. Mbiena’s work offers a rare look at these traditions, preserved amid modernization. It honors the photographer’s friend, Ipita, and celebrates the resilience of the Bamboutos people.
